GLENEALY JUNCTION IMPROVEMENTS

On 14th June 1977, having considered memorandum XCC(77)40A, Honourable Members advised and the Governor ordered under section 6(1)(a) of the Streets (Alteration) Ordinance (Chapter 130) that major road improvements should be authorised to proceed at the junctions of Robinson Road with Old Peak Road and Robinson Road with Glenealy. The authorised undertaking involves the alteration of the alignment, level and width of Robinson Road between the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanic Gardens and Raimondi College, the construction of a flyover at the Robinson Road/Old Peak Road junction in front of the Albany on the same general alignment as Robinson Road and the construction of another flyover to carry Glenealy over the existing Robinson Road to link up with the widened portion of Robinson Road, Work is due to begin in August 1977 and be completed in August 1979.

As Honourable Members are aware, these road im- provements are urgently required to relieve traffic congestion in the Mid-Levels, The Director of Public Works has advised that in order that the works may proceed as scheduled it is necessary to resume the areas of private land shown shaded beige on the plan as annexed, and compris ing portions of Inland Lots Numbers 645 Section A Remaining Portion and 646 Remaining Portion,

Numbers 3 and 3A Robinson Road, an eleven-storey apartment block erected in 1974, stand on the lot, The area of land required for roadworks is very small being about 22, 5 square metres presently used as a courtyard.

The lot is occupied by Block K, Pine Court, Number

5 Old Peak Road, a high class thirteen-storey apartment block. 105 square metres of hillside slope are affected by the roadworks.
