Messrs. CHOW Kam and CHOW Ngau.

Alan Scott has asked me to give you some details in response to your letter of 30th September just in case the matter is raised in Parliament.

CHOW Kam and his family of 10 persons live in a structure on Crown land at Lam Tei and Fu Tei which is required for river training works. The clearance is tentatively scheduled for January 1978, not 6th December 1977 as stated in the telegram. According to our eligibility rules, CHOW Kam and family will be offered a flat in a public housing estate in the district. CHOW Kam has one pigsty which will be cleared as well for which he will receive an ex-gratia disturbance allowance of HK$8,889.50.

CHOW Ngau's squatter hut is outside the clearance boundaries. His pigsty is however within the area to be cleared. He will get HK$3,105.00 as allowance upon clearance.

If you require more details, please let me
