9 bodies, believed to be those of illegal immigrants drowned whilst attempting entry, were recovered from the sea during the month (3 in the eastern sector, 1 in the southern sector, 2 in the western sector and 3 in the northern sector).

The cumulative total of illegal immigrants arrested by or surrendered to the Police and the Army since 1st January 1968 is now 31,170. The yearly totals are as follows:-

The figure of illegal immigrants interviewed and accepted as having evaded controls since 30th November 1974 is 14,351. The ratio of interceptions against evasions further decreased and is now 1:3.97

Macao

6 illegal immigrants were referred to this department by the Marine Police and consequently 1 was repatriated to Macao during the month and the remaining 5 cases are still being processed.

26 illegal immigrants who were arrested by the Police in previous months were repatriated to Macao in September.

Since November 1975, the total of illegal immigrants interviewed and accepted as having entered from Macao is 1,396. Of these 141 were arrested, 1,046 surfaced through ROP claiming illegal entry from Macao and 209 surfaced through ROP falsely claiming illegal entry from elsewhere.
