Of the SS illegal immigrants from China processed at Ta Ku Ling, 1 was allowed to stay and 98 were repatriated to China in April. In addition, 5 illegal immigrants who arrived in March were also repatriated to China in April.

Macao

department by the lerine Police. 17 were repatriated in April and the remaining one is still being processed. In addition, 1 illegal immigrant who was arrested by the Police last October was also removed to Macao in April..

On 24th April, a group of 17 illegal immigrants from Macao, after having landed illegally at Sok Kwu Yan, Lamma Island, proceeded by ferry to town. Their presence aroused the suspicion of a police sergeant and subsequent enquiries revealed their illegal immigrant status. The whole group was repatriated to Macao on 25th April.

Registration of Illegals

During April, 538 persons (compared with 693 last month) registered with the Registration of Persons Office; claiming to have entered Hong Kong illegally from various sources. The figure includes 440 persons (compared with 542 last month) claiming to have entered from China.

Since 1962, the Registration of Persons Office has registered a total of 315, 590 persons who claimed to have entered Hong Kong illegally from various sources, primarily from China. The cumulative total of such registrations since January 1968 is 124, 427.

The attached appendices give details of arrests of illegal immigrants from China and Macao during April.
