1. I wrote to DS6, MOD on 24 February copying to you about the MOD's proposal to sponsor a visit to Hong Kong for Robert Bolton of "The Sun".
2. There have been further developments since I wrote, and the visit has now been cancelled. These further developments are of interest: Bolton asked the MOD if he could stay on for one week after the end of their programme for him. The MOD considered and refused. Bolton then went to his editor, hesitated a little and decided that perhaps, after all, he
Ju mu would not stay on. The above said casts some doubt on his
purpose for going to Hong Kong in the first place. Perhaps all he really wanted was another set of pictures for Page Three of "The Sun"!
