Mr Stanley Newens (Harlow): To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, how many children of primary school age in Hong Kong are not attending school; and what percentage this represents of the total number of children in this age range.

It is estimated that about 6,300 children, or 1.2% of those of primary school age, may not be attending school.
