(a) To keep a constant watch on

(a) At the 23rd meeting held on 14.9.76,

Members discussed the effect of aircraft noise on schools under the flight path and suggested a more systematic survey to study the problem.

(b) A month-long noise pollution mini-

campaign was launched on 24.9.76 to publicise the newly enacted legislation which places excessive noise emission from air-conditioners and ventilating systems under legislative control.

(a) At the meeting on 18.8.76, Members

discussed the Government's motor vehicle inspection facilities fof checking exhaust emissions.

(b) At the meeting on 22.10.76, Members discussed the publicity campaign to be held next year. The theme would be excessive smoke emission તે ticketable offence under the Fixed Penalty Scheme starting 1.11.76.

Based on EPCOM's recommendation, the Marine Department plans to control excessive smoke emission from local craft operating in H.K. waters. Members were told that the plan would be on trial for six months and an assessment made.

The next meeting will held on 4.11.76 to discuss bus noise and noise from industrial buildings in residential

areas.

The next meeting will be held on 1.12.76 to discuss :-

(a) the E.R.L.

consultation document on air pollution;

(b) Improvement to

Incinerators.
