To phase the acceptance of land surrendered by the military under the Defence Costs Agreement. The main agreed releases outstanding are :-

i) Lyonun Barracks

(Stage I)

(a) 5 acres of Sham Shui Po Camp, the first major release under the Defence Costs Agreement, was handed over at the end of October;

(b) Lyemun Barracks (Stage I) is to be

a public park and agreement has been reached on giving indemnity to the Urban Council against chance accidents arising from the previous military occupation of the land and preparations for handing over the site are now being made;

(c) Preliminary consideration is being

given to the release of the remaining parts of Lyemun Barracks (Stage II) and Sham Shui Po Camp

(Stage III) not included in the Director of Civil Aviation.

Defence Costs Agreement.

(a) Accept Lyemun

Barracks (Stage I);

(b) Determine terms

for further releases and decide whether agreements should be made to acquire additional military land.
