PURPOSE

To establish and follow a sequence of action leading to a decision by December 1977 on whether a feasibility study for an addition- al desalting plant should be

ndertaken and, by 1979, whether tenders for construction should be called.

PROGRESS MADE & PRESENT POSITION

Terms of reference for a consultancy on joint production of water and electricity have been drafted for consideration by the Steering Group on the Joint Production of Water and Electricity. It has been agreed that the following sequence should be followed:.

(a) Phase I (i.e. feasibility) to be

completed by June 1977.

(b) Phase II (i.e. administrative arrangements) to be completed by September 1977.

(c) Decision on feasibility study

for additional desalting plant by December 1977.

(d) Decision on whether to call for

tenders for a second desalter by 1979.

NEXT QUARTER TARGETS

(a) Agree terms of

reference for join production consultancy.

(b) Obtain approval

for consultancy.

(c) Commission

consultancy.
