Tuen Mun New Town Transport Study (ENV 40/12/12)
PURPOSE
To decide the internal public transport requirements for Tuen Mun New Town.
PROGRESS MADE & PRESENT POSITION
(e) Double-tracking the Sheung Shui
Station is in progress.

Work to provide additional unloading berths at Hung Hom Station will be completed in about 6 months.

Construction of the Fo Tan Goods sidings will be completed by summer 1977.
Construction of the Lo Wu Marshalling Yard is in progress. The yard will be in partial use by autumn 1977. A P.W.S.C. paper on staff quarters at Lo Wu is with Finance Branch.
(i) Reballasting the track is in Category A of the Public Works Programme. Work on Phase I between Hung Hom and Shatin is about to start.
(a) Consultants will be asked to undertake
a study of requirements. Letters of invitation and a study brief have been issued.
(b) A steering Group under the Chairman-
ship of D.S.(E)1 with representatives of S.N.T., S.E.S., C. for T., G.M.R., T.T.S.D., P.G.H.E. and D.O.T.M. has
