Chapter 7
To provide a phased programme for major development projects in the Aberdeen area and to monitor their implementation. All major projects to be completed by 1985 and the Ap Lei Chau Bridge to be completed by April 1979.
To establish and follow a sequence of action leading to a decision by December 1977 on whether a feasibil- ity study for an additional desalting plant should be undertaken and, by 1979, whether tenders for construction should be called.

Work on the Ap Lei chau licenced area is progressing and the anticipated completion date is February 1977. Messrs. Maunsell Consultants Asia have been appointed consultants for the Ap Lei Chau Bridge and submitted the design planning report in November 1976. Tenders for the bridge are expected to be called in May 1977.
Terms of reference for the consultancy on joint production of water and electricity have been agreed by the Government members of the Steering Group and funds are being sought. The sequence action is :
