PURPOSE
(a) To define the
location and boundaries of country parks and special areas.
(b) To provide
legislation and regulations to specify the
conditions and use of country
parks and special
areas.

PROGRESS MADE & PRESENT POSITION
(a) Objections to the designation of country
parks in response to a notice published in the gazette have now been resolved and an ExCo paper for the designation of three country parks is now being processed.
(b)
The final draft of the regulations has now been prepared.
(c) AFD is preparing a submission for the
reorganisation and retitling of staff in its Forest Guard Section, in order to provide better control over country parks.
NEXT QUARTER TARGETS
(a) Designate three
country parks and one special area under the Country Parks Ordinance in May 1977.
(b) Submit country
parks regulations to ExCo in May 1977.

AFD is making the necessary preparation for the gazetting of country parks at Aberdeen, Tai Tam/longneichong and Sai Kung.
