White Paper on Transport Policy (formerly Comprehensive Transport Study

(CR 19/3220/76)

PURPOSE

To make plans for all transport facilities over the years to 1991 and to prepare a White Paper on Transport Policy.

PROGRESS MADE & PRESENT POSITION

(a) The Working Group on Transport Policy

has continued to meet fortnightly.

Studies into major problem areas have been started and are ongoing.

NEXT QUARTER TARGETS

(a) Consult ExCo

on initial policy issues by July 1977.

KCR Programme Plan

To develop a Programme Plan for the KCR on the basis of a

The consultancy commenced on 1st February 1977.

consultancy study on the modernization of the railway system.

Formal agreement in respect of the consultancy study was signed with Transmark on 26th March 1977.

As this agreement has not covered all the work which the Government would like the consultant to undertake, negotiations are proceeding with Transmark for an extension of the consultancy.

The KCR Steering Group has considered the first two progress reports which have been received from the consultant.

An officer has been seconded from PWD to KCR to fill the Liaison Officer post.
