Mr James Boyden MP has written urging speedy action
admission to the UK, as agreed by the Home Office, of on the /resettlement in this country of 116 of the Indo-
Chinese refugees who left their own countries in small boats.
He wrote in his capacity as Chairman of the Europe Committee
of the Standing Conference of British Organisations for
Aid to Refugees.

In fact three families, totalling 21 people are
already here. They were among those rescued at sea by a
Bermuda-registered ship, the "WS MATHER".

3. Hong Kong were asked to supply details of possible
candidates for admission here, on the understanding that
up to 95 would be accepted to complete the total of 116.
However they have replied that all but 19 "small boat" people
have been accepted for settlement elsewhere, and none of these
19 have shown any interest in coming to the UK.
