CHILE AND BOLIVIA
This Congress instructs the General Council to exert the greatest possible influence in assisting the development of trade union freedom and human rights in Chile and Bolivia by:-
(a) an examination of the United Kingdom's trade and investment
position with Chile and Bolivia;
(b) questioning the credentials of those who are purporting to represent
Trade Unions within Chile and Bolivia at the ILO;
(c) developing closer ties with our democratic trade union counterparts.
in Chile and Bolivia; and
(d) ensuring that the proposed aid of £19 million from the ODM to the Bolivian Mining Industry, and any subsequent requests for Government aid by Chile or Bolivia, should not be granted until there has been a restoration of trade- union freedom and human rights.
