LABOUR RELATIONS IN HONG KONG INTERIM AND PROVISIONAL REVIEW BY MOFESSOR H A TURNEK 1977

1.

I discussed with you on Friday 15 April your letter of 4 April 1977 addressed to the Secretary of State.

2. You agreed that, because of the confidential nature of the report and the risk that parts of it might be leaked in Hong Kong, it would be unwise to send copies of the report to companies having Hong Kong connections.

3.

Furthermore, I explained that it is important that the views of the CLCC are obtained at an early date for Professor Turner will shortly be making arrangements to complete his studies of labour relations this summer. Consequently, we wish to convey to him as soon as possible the views of the OLCC on his interim review.

4. I am glad, therefore, to have had your agreement that the reports should not be given a wider circulation to your members and I feel sure that the CBI representatives on the OLCC will be able to make a useful contribution to the discussion of the report on the basis of their wide experience.
