PROPOSED IMPROVED DÉCLARATIONS IN 1977
Proposed improvement
Applied with modifications
Comments by OLA's Department
Can the Hong Kong Government confirm that
the necessary amendment to the Employment Ordinance will be made by the end of March and that the inclusion of a "fair wage" clause in Government civil engineering and architectural works is now being implemented? We are concerned that the improved declaration on this Convention should not slip further.
We find somewhat unconvincing the Government's contention that the necessary degree of prior consultation with employer and workers' organisations is not feasible Can the Government explain why it is. not, and also indicate the nature of the difficulties over consultation
with the Building Contractors' Association prior to the preparation of the legis- lative amendment?
42:Workmen's Compensation (Occupational Diseases)
Applied with modification
Applied without
modification.
Can the Government say when they expect to introduce the Workmen's Compensation (Silicosis and Asbestosis) (Amendment) Bill and when the arrangements for the creation of the insurance pool will be completed?
