HONG KONG: IMPROVED DECLARATIONS ON ILO CONVENTIONS
1. I am glad to say we have now received the Hong Kong Government's trial report in support of its proposed declaration of "applied with modifications" in respect of Convention 101 - Holidays with Pay (Agriculture). We are now examining the report
and subject to the need to clarify any doubtful points with Hong Kong we shall forward a declaration to Geneva with the least possible delay.
2. Less than six weeks now remain for the submission by Hong Kong of trial reports on the three outstanding Conventions of the 1977 programme Nos. 17, 42 and 90. I understand that following the latest meeting of the Standing Committee to monitor the Planning Paper HKGD were writing again to the Hong Kong Government about the importance of the necessary legislation being enacted in time. I believe you have also written to ask Hong Kong for firm proposals for improved declarations in 1978. In order to complete our files on these subjects could I have copies of your letters please ?
