Miss Mitchell replied to questions and comments from the audience, and she was joined by members of the company who had worked together on the script of "Empire Made". She also produced the results of a questionnaire sent to teachers and others who had seen the production. Teachers who had brought children to see the play had been sent Hong Kong Government information and information provided by the Hong Kong Research Project.

The original stimulus for the play, said Miss Mitchell,
had been the "Guardian" article on child labour. had co-operated by letting the group have access to the
World in Action" programme free of charge.
Miss Mitchell agreed that topics were included in the play which had not been touched upon in the television
programme.

Asked about reactions by children who had seen the production, Miss Mitchell said the programme had been seen by one child from Hong Kong, who had identified what he had
seen with conditions at home.
Referring to answers given to questionnaires, Miss Mitchell said one critic had described "Empire Made" as a "woefully shallow piece of work". Another had said that the play could corrupt children's minds. However, most comments from
teachers were on questions of presentation.
