Libya (IRA Support)

Mr. Moonman asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what information he has relating to material support provided by the Government of Libya to the IRA in Northern Ireland; and what steps he has taken wo inform the Government of Libya of the concern of Her Majesty's Govern-

Mr. Tomlinsoa: As my right hon. Friend, the then Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, told the House on 21st May 1975, we had indications that the Trish Republican Army had received some aid from Libya and Her Majesty's Government have 'made it clear to the Libyan Government on a number of occasions that they regard any support for the Irish Repub- lican Army as interference in the internal affairs of the United Kingdom. The Libyan Head of State, Colonel Qadhati. has, however, recently stated publicly. that Libya gives the Irish Republican Army no material support.

Hong Kont

Mr. Parry asked the Secretary of Stato for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the present state of progress of the 1976 by-census in Hong Kong: when it will be published ; and if the full details and appendices of the 1971 census report will also be a feature of the 1976 by Census report.

Mr. Luard: The basic tables will be published in mid-1977 and the main 1976 by census report in mid-1978. These two publications will contain generally the same details and appendices as the 1971 census report but with certain necessary changes in the tabulation and presenta-

ton.

The total of 6,600 for the economically active 12-14-year-olds represents 3·1 per cont. of the total population in this age group. The information is based on the March 1976 Labour Force Survey. How- ever, these figures do not include the mariac population. The latest totals, in- cluding the marine population. arc reckoned to be as follows:

electronics, respectively.

Mr. Luard: The March 1976 Labour Force Survey showed that the total number of out-workers LS 61,500. I regret that a breakdown of the figures intu cach of the industries concerned is nut available.

Mr. Parry asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many employers in Hong Kong have been prosecuted for employing children below 14 years of age during 1975 and 1976 to date.
