The term VASGS is used in place of VASIS to indicate that the system is not in line with the runway but is offset 3° to the west of the centre-line. This enables aircraft approaching on the IGS to intercept the VASGS shortly after passing the MM. Terrain clearance is only provided when following the curved approach lights. Deviation from these lights to any degree will result in an immediate loss of terrain clearance.
WARNINGS
Numerous unlit obstructions on approaches, adhere closely
to approach lighting
Caution during landing and take-off due to wind effect and
turbulence.
Overflying Chinese Islands prohibited below 4500 ft
Caution due flocks of birds in R/W vicinity. Pilots are asked
to inform tower of abnormal flocks observed
Large ships may sometimes manoeuvre near the runway
without ATC having advance information.
