We have recently been advised by the DOT, that the
1960 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea
(SOLAS), which governs the visits of nuclear powered ships,
was extended to Hong Kong in 1965. You should therefore
ensure, before despatching the note, to the German Consulate
General, that the operational orders and the arrangements laid
down in the Hong Kong NUSAFE orders comply with the requirements
in SOLAS. On this basis we have not asked the DOT for the
UKAEA to clear your operational orders further.

and clear your defensive press line (in the event of an
accident) and for a statement to the effect that you will
reimburse the MOD for any costs arising from Alverstoke coverag
