HONG KONG: PQs: MR ROBERT PARRY MP
1.
Mr Robert Parry MP (Labour Liverpool, Scotland Exchange Division) has put down 6 Questions for Written Answer on 11 February
concerning compensation for the acquisition of land and property by the Mass Transit Railway Authority in Hong Kong. (These are the further Questions from Mr Parry to which I drew attention in my submission of 8 February.)
2. I have not been able to trace any previous Question by Mr Parry on the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system in Hong Kong, at least in the recent past. Three other MPs, Mr A P Costain (Conservative Folkestone and Hythe), Sir Paul Bryan (Conservative - Howden) and Mr Frank Hooley (Labour Sheffield, Heeley) did ask Questions last
year about different aspects of the MTR, not including the question of compensation for the acquisition of land. I attach relevant extracts from Hansard for 1 March, 22 July and 14 December 1976.
3. I submit draft replies based on information provided by the Hong Kong Government. (Hong Kong telegram no. 146 of 8 February.)
