Dear Sirs,
We wish to acknowledge and thank you for your letter of June 18, 1977.
While we are disappointed that it will not be feasible at the present time to develop further the possibility of a coal supply from China for our proposed power plant, we are indeed grateful to you and your principals for giving consideration to our inquiry and for your prompt response.
In view of the longer term possibility that you have mentioned for potential supplies from China, we will, in planning our facilities, seek to make them sufficiently flexible to permit utilizing coals of relatively wide quality ranges. In this connection, we are hopeful that as our design work progresses, we may have the opportunity of consulting with you further as to the types of coal considered likely to become available from China in the early 1980s.
