At John Lippitt's meeting last Wednesday we agreed the text of a telegram to be sent to Hong Kong, proposing that the CEGB should send a team quickly for discussions on site selection and evaluation, the extent of the equipment to be included in the British proposal and the scope and quantity of the equipment required in addition to the power station itself. I attach

a copy of the telegram in the form in which it was sent to the British Trade Commissioner in Hong Kong.

We have now heard from Hong Kong that China Light and Power/ PEPCO are pleased to learn that a senior CEGB team has been Tow.

appointed by the Department of Industry and look forward CREDA to welcoming them in Hong Kong to discuss the issues raised in our telegram. We hope that a CEGB team will be going to Hong Kong to start discussions in the middle of this week.

This morning we received the 'specification guidance' which had been promised by Kr Stones. I am sending you a copy of this under separate cover and will also be sending a copy to Babcock and Wilcox (Mr Grey), CEGB (Kr Lomer and Mr Masding), BEI (Mr Weaving) and GEC, Rugby (Mr Davidson).

For the record I attach our note of last Wednesday's discussion and a revised version of the note setting out the role of the CEGB in respect of this project.

I am copying this letter and attachments to all those who attended last Wednesday's meeting.
