1)
Thank you for your letter dated 30th June, 1977, the contents of which were considered at a CL&P/PEPCO sub-committee meeting held today.
2)
We were happy to learn that the C. E. G. B. has now appointed a senior team to work on this project on behalf of the Department of Industry.
3)
We look forward to welcoming the C.E. G. B. team in Hong Kong at earliest so that we can discuss:
a)
Our plans for site selection and evaluation
b)
The extent of equipment to be included in your proposal for the power station
c)
The scope and quantity of equipment required
4)
in addition to the power station which you may wish to consider including in your proposal
With respect to your plans to submit to us in mid-August a detailed price proposal for the principle components of the power station, we would appreciate your elaborating on the meaning of your intention to nominate "UK contractors considered by my Department as competent to fulfil the necessary contractual commitments".
During our discussions with Mr. MacDonald we made it clear that we would prefer not to receive turnkey proposals, although separate elements e.g. the civil works, EHV transmission system, gas turbines, etc., could possibly be handled on this basis.
