HONG KONG : GENERATING EQUIPMENT

I have copied to you (on a blind basis) correspondence between the Economic Services Branch of the Secretariat (Stanton) and ourselves over future energy prices and generating equipment on which we sought the views of DEN and DI.
2. I should like to re-iterate one aspect of paragraph 4 of Bracewell's (DI) letter regarding the needs of the British generating equipment industry for orders of this nature. Both CPRS (who have just examined the industry in detail) and DI tell me the situation at present is particularly precarious and will remain so for the next few years until our CEGB re-starts its own ordering programme So anything Hong Kong can offer would be particularly welcome.
