Dear Plilif
Sir James Woodeson, Chairman of Clarke Chapman/Reyrolle Parsons, will be visiting Hong Kong from 19 April onwards. The prime purpose of his visit is to discuss with Sir Lawrence Kadoorie the new power station contract shortly to be placed by China Light & Power (CLP). As you probably know, International Combustion, a part of Clarke Chapman, have provided all the boilers for CLP over the past years.
Clarke Chapman are also interested in incinerator projects in Hong Kong and I wonder whether you would be good enough to refer Sir James to the appropriate official in the Public Works Department. If you have time yourself to meet him, I think you would find him good value. Sir James is an eminent industrialist who is playing
a key role in the negotiations which are currently taking place over the rationalisation of the UK power plant industry. He also
is a useful member of the British Steel Corporation Board and was until recently Chairman of our own Industrial Advisory Board in the Northern Region.
I have written a similar letter of introduction to the Governor.
Best wishes,
Your over Pet
Peter Carey
