An extended forecast shows that by 1990, electricity generation will have reached 3670 units per head of population, i.e. approximately the present level in France.
(c) Electricity Generation and Gross Domestic Product
The level of demand for electricity is directly related to the economic situation. The relationship between generation per capita and gross domestic product (GDP) per capita is clearly shown in the world-wide and Hong Kong statistics in Fig. 1. Although generation per capita varies from country to country, countries with a high GDP per capita generate more electricity per head of population.
