Summary of the Main Provisions of the New E/UC Textile Agreement

Duration

The new agreement has a duration of five years

beginning on 1 January 1978.

Coverage

The new agreement covers Hong Kong's exports of

all cotton, man-made fibre and wool textiles to the United

Ctates. (This coverage is the same as that of the current

agreement.)

Structure and Categorisation

Textile products are divided into 106 categories

under four main Groups, namely:

Group I

Yarn and fabrics of cotton and/or

man-made fibre (27 categories).

Group II

Apparel of cotton and/or man-made

fibre (47 categories).

Group III

Other made-ups and miscellaneous

products of cotton and/or man-made

fibre not included in Group I or II

(8 categories).

Group IV

Wool textiles and textile products (24 categories).
