23 Mr Freak Hooley (Sheffield, Heeley): To ask the Secretary of State for Trade, whether Hong Kong will be separately represented at the next round of talks within GATT on the Multi-fibre Agreements, or whether the Hong Kong delegation will sit as part of the United Kingdom delegation.

Mr Michael Meacher Pursuant to his reply (Official Report 9 May gave the following information :-
The UK has acceded to GATT on behalf of Hong Kong and is responsible for Hong Kong's GATT rights and obligations.
According to the usual practice, a member of the UK delegation in Geneva will speak for Hong Kong at these
talks.
