Subhead 118 Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Addicts

The Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Addicts

receives a deficiency grant subvention for which the rules require the

organisation to operate in accordance with approved budgets. Although

there have been problems over the way in which this requirement has been

followed in previous years, the Society has now taken steps which have

led to a considerable improvement in controlling its activities in

accordance with approved budgets.

47.

In april 1976, Finance Branch conducted an inspection of the

facilities and management of the Society. The inspection has now been

completed and recommendations relating to a substantial reduction in staff

and better management are being examined by the Government and the Society.

It is envisaged that improvements will be introduced in stages and that

regular reviews will be made in the light of experience.
