COUNCIL ON INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
73. The Council a new body, with a membership of about
forty members, including MPs, development interests,
industrialists, businessmen, trades unionists and the
churches, is a consultative body giving an opportunity for
two-way exchanges of views and information.

of reference are "To provide a regular opportunity for
discussion of development issues between the Minister for
Overseas Development and Council members representative of
the interests of the national community, to ensure that the
Minister is fully aware of informed opinion on these issues al
and to disseminate more widely information on development
problems and the Government's relegant policies".
74. The Minister is normally the Chairman, and xxxre
appoints the members. It is plan intended that the
Council should meet four times a year.
