TRILATERAL CO-OPERATION ARRANGEMENTS WITH OPEC COUNTRIES AND THE ARAB FUNDS
Over the past two years an important element of UK aid policy has been to develop
close co-operation with the OPEC countries and the new aid-giving institutions such as the Arab funds. Contacts were initially established with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) and with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and have been extended to the Abu Dhabi Fund for Arab Economic Development (ADFAED), the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (ABEDA). Such contacts are being maintained both by regular official
visits to the funds and also through diplomatic posts.
Trilateral (or multilateral) projects to which British aid has been committed or agreed in principle, in association with an OPEC country or donor agencies of

The estimated total costs of the above projects are some £200 m, of which the British contributions would represent approximately 8% of the total. Projects in
