modalities of co-financing and ways of continuing the dialogue and review of
suitable projects between the Bank and ourselves. The approach to be taken is case by case and country by country, although in general our emphasis is to seek projects for co-financing in Asia and Africa in line with our overall aid
strategy of directing aid to the poorest.
66. The UK is currently co-financing with the World Bank, or is negotiating for
commencement in 1977, some 21 projects in rural development, four in education, three in urban development, two in power and water infrastructure development,
one in telecommunications and one in health centres and training as part of a population project. These have involved or potentially involve a total UK input of approximately £50m over a period of years.
