Under the terms of the new cost-sharing Agreement, which came into effect on 1 April 1976 for a term of seven years in the first instance, the Hong Kong Government will pay an increased share of the cost of the garrison, rising from 50 per cent in 1976/77 to 621 per cent in 1977/78 and to 75 per cent thereafter.
