I recommend that the Minister should convey our thanks to

the Governor for the trouble he and the rest of the Hong Kong administration take to provide full and helpful replies to queries raised by MPs. As regards his attitude towards Mr Parry (or any other MP who might adopt the similar policy of making long-term stops in Hong Kong), I suggest that the Governor be recommended to maintain the policy adopted this year of being as polite, helpful, and forthcoming as possible, while avoiding being drawn into public debate. The Minister may wish to mention the distressing incident in which Mr Parry was barracked by an ill- mannered group of off-duty expatriate policemen.
