UNOFFICIAL TRANSLATION OF NOTE NO 59/AN FROM THE SOVIET EMBASSY
The Embassy of the USSR present their compliments to the FCO and
havethe honour to state that the Soviet scientific-research
expeditionary vessel "Dmitriy Mendeleyev" which is carrying out
work in the international project to study the region of the
current;
Kurosio (sic) plans to visit the port of Hong Kong during the period from the 31st of October to the 3rd of November 1977 for
3 or 4 days in order to replenish ships supplies.
The exact time and date of the arrival of the ship in the port of
Hong Kong will be communicated by the captain to the port
authorities in due course.
The ship "Dmitriy Mendeleyev" has the following dimensions:

6960 tonnes
125 metres
6 metres
The Embassy would be grateful if the FCO would communicate the
given information to the appropriate authorities and arrange for
the servicing of the vessel in the aforementioned port.
