1.
Further to Mr Milton's minute of 5 January, Mr Cortazzi has now decided that the next meeting of the Standing Committee should be held at 3.00 p.m. on Tuesday, 8 February.
2.
I suggest the following provisional agenda for the meeting:
1. Matters arising from the first meeting of the Standing
Committee on 21 October and from Lord Goronwy-Roberts' meeting with the Governor of Hong Kong on 9 December (except for those which are the subject of separate items below).
2.
Hong Kong budget for 1977/78. (Due to be announced on 2 March: the Governor has given Lord Goronwy-Roberts an outline of the form that the budget will take. A further meeting will take place in May to consider the final version of the budget.
3. Professor Turner's Study of Labour Relations in Hong Kong.
4.
Proposal to second a DS Grade 4 officer to Hong Kong.
5. Progress Reports by Hong Kong.
6.
Any other business.
I should be grateful if the recipients of this minute would let me know whether they have any comments on this provisional agenda.
