At about 11.30 a.m. the same day, as a result of certain information

received, I went on duty at Beef Island. I reached there at about 11.45

a.n. I was accompanied by the C.O.P. Police Samaroo, Mr. Blyden and

other police officers. We were searching for the accused. At about 4.30

p.m., while searching the bushes at Beef Island, I heard Mr. Blyden say

something. I went to his assistance. On my arrival there, I saw the

accused.

Accused was lying under a tamarind tree. He was bare back, bare

headed, bare footed. He had on only a brownish pants. I heard accused

say, "I over-stay and I was running from the Immigration Officer." P/e

Blyden then told accused that he is wanted at Police Headquarters for

questioning into the death of Evelyn Rabsatt. The accused said, "I

do not know what you are talking about."

Accused was then taken to the jeep and then to Road Town Police Station.

I know the accused's sister, Julietta Gaston.

I went to accused's house on 20th January, 1977. I spoke to Julietta

Gaston. This was about 12.30 p.m. She went into a room and took a piece

of cord which was tied as a clothes line in the room and handed it to me. 20

That was in the accused's room. I kept the cord and later handed it over

to Sargeant Malone.
