Thank you for your telegram no. Personal 49. I am sorry that it appears to you in Bermuda that the Secretary of State's statement and
answers to supplementaries in the House have left you in a vulnerable position both politically and physically. It is clear that this situation has arisen because of differing legal opinions that have been presented to us here in London and to you in Hamilton.
2. I do not believe that it would be profitable if we were now to engage in a detailed discussion of the points made by you in your TUR. I am caUBİ an inquiry to be mada here in the Office on these points. I suggest that I should send a senior official to visit you in Hamilton sometime after Christmas to discuss the whole affair in detail and to see what, if anything, can be done to impr your relations with Ministers and the Opposition.
