The Talbot Branch Labour Party have passed a resolution condemning the Secretary of State for allowing the executions in Bermuda to proceed and calling on the Government to bring colonial law into line with that of the UK.
2.
In his statement to Parliament on 5 December, the Secretary of State explained the limitations placed on him in this matter. He also indicated that he was in fact prepared to review the whole question of capital punishment in the dependent territories.
