TO THE QUEEN'S MOST EXCELLENT MAJESTY
THE PETITION of the undersigned citizens of the Islands of
Bermuda, 18 years and upwards, humbly sheweth as follows:-
1. THAT we, the undersigned, residents of Bermuda of the age of
18 years and upwards are morally opposed to capital punish-
ment.
2. THAT we specifically are against the hanging of Erskine "Buck"
Burrows and Larry Winfield Tacklyn who have been sentenced
to death by hanging by The Supreme Court of Bermuda.
YOUR PETITIONERS therefore humbly pray:
THAT Your Majesty will take this Petition into Your Majesty's fa-
vourable consideration and will Exercise the Prerogative of
Mer cy in favour of these two Bermudians and commute their
death sentence to life imprisonment.
THAT further, Your Majesty will make recommendations to The Sec-
retary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs that the
Laws of Bermuda with respect to hanging be amended and
brought into line with modern opinion on the said topic.
AND YOUR PETITIONERS as in duty bound will ever pray, etc.,
