Mr Beattie (UN Dept K 153)
THE DEFENDENT TERRITORIES AND THE UN
1. I expect you saw Mr Simpson-Orlebar's copy of Mr Stanley's minute of 19 May to the US about Mr Ivor Richard's letter of 10 May and the talks that Mr Stanley and others were to have this week with Mr Richard.
2. The US commented on Mr Stanley's minute that he would be interested to hear, on his return from Washington, about the discussions with Mr kichard in so far as they concerned the UN aspects to the future of our remaining dependent territories. With this in view, I attach a draft of a minute that Mr Stanley might send to the PS/FUS. I`should be grateful if you would let me know if you have any comments on the little 1 have said about hr Luard's meeting with Mr Richard on 24 May (paragraph 5 of the draft refers).
