FAO CONFERENCE ROME 12 November - 1 December
:
1. I understand from Bill Mallenson that he has passed on to you my letter of 14 October about invitations to dependant territories to attend the above named Conference. I also understand that you asked for a draft of the sort of invitation which should issue.
2. In the past invitations appear to have been dealt with entirely by UN Dept. of the F.C.O. an we did not receive a copy of the letter (or telegram) which they issued. I am therefore not at all sure how invitations to previous Conferences were worded but suggest a telegram on the lines of the attached draft would be adequate. Unless you have any queries/ objections I would be grateful if something on these lines could now be issued to the Governors of all those dependant territories for whose external relations the U.K. is responsible. I would be grateful if you could let me have a copy of the tel. in due course for our files.
