ANNEX F
1.
INSPECTION OF GIBRALTAR AND GENERAL
DEPARTMENT REGISTRY, NOVEMBER 1975
This is a central registry located in Room 81 Downing Street West, with one integrated section in Room 274 King Charles Street. This section was integrated in June this year.
MANPOWER
2. The staff of this Registry is:
Grade 9
Grade 10
Mr D Rose
Mr N Verity
Gibraltar
Mr AR G Hunt
Administrative Staffing
Miss J L Jackson
Dependent Territories General
Clerical Assistant
Mrs V E Rudd
At present the Head of Registry is running the files dealing with the International Labour Organisation, as he finds he has very little work to do, but these files would normally be part of the work of the General Section.
SUPERVISION
3. Mr Rose has been Head of this Registry for almost a year and is due for a move in December. As the Registry is usually staffed by new entrants or inexperienced Grade 10 Officers, their initial training is most important. Close supervision should, therefore, always be maintained until it is clear that they have a good grasp of the filing system and of the work of their section. We do not consider that the Administrative Staffing section in particular has been supervised closely enough in recent months.
WORKLOAD
4.
Gibraltar and General Department Registry deal with a larger proportion of outgoing correspondence than most registries - in fact during the period 4 January to 31 October the total of incoming correspondence was 5,809 and the outgoing 3,877 - and these figures are, therefore, given in addition to those for new receipts. The average workload per week divided out into sections for the period 4 January to 31 October is:
