Hon. Colonial Secretary.
Your Honour,
In view of the praise-worthly administration which has been made possible under the remarkable and popular leadership of H.E. Sir Murray Machehose, the Governor of Hong Kong, and the possible disruption of development plans in the event of H.E.'s departure, our Association has resolved at our recent 22nd General Committee
Meeting that we will submit our representation to H.M. Queen Elizabeth II and the Secretary for Commonwealth and Foreign Affairs in request of H.E. Sir Murray Machehose's extension of his office
in Hong Kong.
The civic bodies in the New Territories and the majority
of residents sincerely hope that H.E. may stay and continue to head the administration, and exercise his distinguished ability
of leadership for the benefit of Hong Kong, as this will help develop this place into a prosperous city and make the coming era the most glorious period in the history of Hong Kong.
It is hoped that H.M. the Queen and the Secretary for Commonwealth and Foreign Affairs will consider our views and accede to our request. Enclosed please find our representations to H.E. the Queen and the Secretary for Commonwealth and Foreign Affairs.
