Dear John,

15 SEP 1976

NKK 353/548/1

When we recently discussed the possibility of Lord Goronwy-Roberts accepting the invitation of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to a dinner party to be held in the Berkeley Hotel on Thursday 7 October, you asked me to let you have a guest list in order that you might be in a position to advise the Minister. For this purpose I enclose the invitation list for this dinner, but I would explain that by no means all of those invited will be able to attend. It is also the TDC's intention, if possible, to arrange the guests at separate tables each seating nine. In order that the TDC may finalise their arrangements for the dinner, it would be appreciated if you could let me know as soon as possible whether or not Lord Goronwy-Roberts decides to accept the invitation. I can only add that I am sure that the Chairman of the Trade Development Council, Mr. T.K. An, would be delighted if the Minister decides that he can accept.

I also understood from you that it was proposed that Lord Goronwy-Roberts should grant Mr. An an interview during his visit to the UK. Again as Mr. An has a number of other appointments to be fitted into a very brief visit, from 6 - 8 October, I should appreciate being informed of the proposed timing for such an interview as soon as you can manage.

youn
