The large majority (94%) of these children were students; only 3.0% were found to be working. As no information on occupation or industry was asked, it is not known how many of these children at work were illegally employed. Compared to 1971, the proportion of 12-13 year old children attending school has risen from 90% to 94%, and the percentage at work had decreased from 5. 6% to 3.0%.

Of those who were economically inactive, 98.5% were students.
