STATUS OF HONG KONG: ARTICLES IN THE FAR EASTERN ECONOMIC REVIEW

Further to my submission of 8 December on the Status of Hong Kong, you may wish to see the attached articles by Messrs Dick Wilson and David Bonavia which appeared in the Far Eastern Economic Review for 10 December. The articles on the whole are factual and well balanced. They open by suggesting that HMG is not giving enough thought to contingency planning about the long-term future of Hong Kong but close by concluding that our present stance is about right.
